Danish prize-winning poem

For the past few years, 10th grade students have written poems in Danish during the spring semester. This year, the school decided to turn the assignment into a poetry contest.

Students are expected to play with the language and let their creativity and imagination flourish.

The Danish teacher first chose what he considered the best poems, which were then reviewed by a selection committee made up of several school teachers. Students submitted many excellent poems. This time, Arnar Freyr Brynjarssonʼs poem emerged as the winner, and he received the book "Et barn i en verden - 8 fortællinger inspireret af H.C. Andersen" as his prize. The school received this book as a gift from the Danish Embassy in Iceland to encourage students who have shown strong interest in learning Danish.

Arnar's poem appears below, and the official statement about the poem reads:

"The student receives the prize for a beautiful poem about nature and the approaching spring. The poem uses vocabulary that vividly describes nature awakening once again. The poem is skillfully composed and includes both assonance and end rhymes. The selection committee unanimously agreed on the poem's quality and was also impressed by its recitation, which was delivered with great confidence."

Min poesi:

Vandet glimter i solens blik.

Børnene leger i græsset så grønt,

Og foråret hvisker "Nu er foråret begyndt."
